My virtual studio displays original paintings on gallery canvases and digital art.
As a working artist, illustrator, graphic designer and teacher, I continue to learn. My teaching methods have grown and changed over the years and based on work and life experience.
My teaching methods consist of either active or passive direction
A PASSIVE CLASS means that instruction will be specifically guided. Subject matter will be chosen by a teacher. Every student in turn follows this subject. Demonstrations are sometimes included. Students are encouraged to follow the subject outline presented by the teacher.
A ACTIVE CLASS is about student choices within a class framework. For instance, if the class is about landscapes, the student can choose ( for example ) a lake view, or mountains or forests or seasides or meadows or flowers, etc.
The teachers’ job is to support and assist students when needed or feeling stuck. The student is ‘in the driver’s seat’. There are multiple benefits including creative freedom and interpretation. There is a purity and honesty, and what is created that is truly unique.
I bring Years of experience in the Creative Field and still learning
There’s always New Possibilities In Creating and in teaching. Here is a small description about me.
Judy Mayer-Grieve (hons)
AOCAD University.
Major: Communication & Design.
I Specialize In Visual Art. Exhibiting in Galleries, Curating, Competitions, Consultation and teaching art.
I’ve worked as a commercial artist, and sometimes still do. My work includes illustration and graphic design for numerous national and international businesses and publications. Over a 20 year period, I refined my skills in design, illustration, drawing and painting, with an awareness for trends. The underpinning in all my work includes composition, colour, design and space relationship, whether it be Illustration, Graphic Design or Painting.
Next in my career was Illustration freelancing for various international clients. Then, teaching art at Fanshawe college and various art organizations. At Fanshawe, I led computer graphics and digital illustration courses. It was then I discovered that I enjoyed the interaction with students. On occasion a students’ work also inspired me. I find teaching art a two-way street, which is both challenging and rewarding at the same time. I’ve also taught at art galleries and art societies, in landscapes, figurative and portrait painting.
