Helen Hendry - Artist Statement
The diverse subject matter of Canada’s landscape encourages the ability to examine and interpret, on canvas, what the landscape means to me. For many years I often painted “en pleine air” while standing amongst the quietness of the weeds, shrubs, trees and open air. Those times were especially memorable for my development as an artist.
Barbara Chapman - Artist Statement
Born on the Eastern Edge, Barbara is informed by the natural world, rocky edges, the sky and varied light. A love of the earth, growing things, and the environment provides a richness of inspiration with deeper meaning and messaging in her work.
Mike Balcain - Artist Statement
I am a lifelong art lover who started my journey in 2017 with sketching and watercolour, switching to oils in 2023. I am inspired by the impressionists to follow my passion for creating my own personal vision.
John Faulkner - Artist Statement
Emotion and spontaneity drive my artwork. Canada is so incredibly unique and beautiful. A beacon of light with a few shadows.
Rhodri Kasperbauer - Artist Statement
In my five pieces I aimed to explore Canada in relation to Citizenship, Provincial Identity, Arctic Sovereignty, The Monarch and Money. These are intended to be humorous speculations rather than conclusions, ones that reflect upon the past, present and future of our great nation.
Lead - Judy Mayer-Grieve - Artist Statement
After being accepted to exhibit in New York City, I chose to decline the offer—a move that ultimately paved the way for me to curate a remarkable group of Canadian artists to exhibit at the Oakville Art Society this October 24th and 25th. 2026.
Bev Kennedy – Artist Statement
Nature restores, calms and intrigues, and brings hope.
Michelle de Villiers - Artist Statement
These pieces form part of my “A Canadian Abecedarian” series, which features 26 iconic Canadian animals. I created the ceramic A-Z series using the tactile clay of our soil. My hope is that we will preserve and protect these animals and their habitats for future generations to enjoy.
Louise King - Artist Statement
Hanna T - Artist Statement
In this series, I celebrate the quiet presence of Canadian birdlife. Each piece focuses on a single species, inviting close attention to form and gesture, while an abstract background gently recedes, allowing the viewer to fully engage with the subject, undistracted.
Jill MacInnes - Artist statement
Janet Brown-McIsaac - Artist Statement
My goal as an artist is to create works that bring the viewer into my world and have an emotional response that mirrors the intensity of what I experience.
Rocky Mancini - Artist Statement
Many of my paintings have been inspired by the beauty of the landscapes in Canada. From small vignettes to large scale vistas, I have tried to capture the light and atmosphere of each part of this country.
Lucia Ana Holzapfel - Artist Statement
Inspired by my travels across Canada, my work merges the raw, rugged energy of waterfalls and rock formations with the delicate beauty of botanical life. Through a signature use of cool, vivid and rich tactile texture, I translate the atmosphere of these places into immersive, high contrast visual experience.
Diana Linardic - Artist Statement
I created these pieces as an exploration of how individuals embrace the Canadian elements in both the summer and winter.
You will see 50 plus works in a small dedicated gallery. This is a chance for patrons to ask specific questions.
About our Opening Reception: On October 25th our Small + Larger Exhibition (Integrated & Layered) will have much higher foot traffic. Our "small exhibition" does not disappear. It is a designated space within a much higher overarching show. You will walk through a larger pace and inside that corridor featuring smaller artist's works. 11 AM – 5 PM
